District Announcements

  • School Board Election

P.L.2011, c.202 permitted a Board of Education to move their annual school board election from April to November beginning in 2012.

At their January 15, 2014 Public Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education passed a resolution to move the election of school board members from April to November and eliminate the vote on the annual budget beginning in 2014.

The election of school board members will take place during the regular general election in November. The Board of Education also determined that the statutory restrictions on the local levy tax increase for annual school appropriations is appropriate and sufficient to control and maintain a thorough and efficient education.

The Board of Education believes that changing the election to November will attract a greater number of voters. Also, the elimination of the vote on the school budget and moving the election to November will save taxpayer dollars.
